Your Questions Answered

We understand you might have questions about how Scholars Maths works. Here, you will find answers to the most common queries regarding our maths tutoring, lesson structure, and what you can expect from our online sessions. Our goal is to make the process clear and reassuring for both parents and students.

Please contact Phil if you have any questions that are not covered here and I will be more than happy to answer them. Remember, there's no such thing as a silly question!!

Do I Pay Upfront?

Yes. Tuition is booked and paid for in advance in 6-week half-term blocks.

This secures your child’s place in the group and helps maintain consistency throughout the term.

A refund is available if you feel the fit is not right for your child during the first session.

What Happens If My Child Cannot Attend a Lesson?

If a student cannot attend, lesson materials or work covered during the session can be provided where possible so they do not fall behind.

Because places are limited in small groups, missed lessons are non-refundable.

What If we Have a Holiday Booked During the 6 Week Block?

Parents are encouraged to consider holidays when booking half-term blocks. Where possible, support materials can still be provided so students can keep up with the topics covered during their absence however sessions missed due to holidays are non-refundable.

What if My Child Does Not Enjoy the First Lesson?

We feel it is very important that children feel comfortable, supported and happy in lessons. If after the first lesson a parent feels the group is not the right fit for their child, we can discuss options or a refund for remaining sessions.

Is Online Learning as Effective as Face-to-Face?

Many parents wonder if online learning can truly match in-person tutoring. We leverage the best online platforms like Zoom for lessons and ensure that online lessons are not only effective but also engaging.

The focus is on active learning, where Phil can gauge understanding and adapt teaching in real-time, just like in a physical classroom.

Still Anxious?

Parents often worry about the return on their investment. At Scholars Maths, our goal is to provide high-quality, impactful tutoring that genuinely helps students improve their maths skills and confidence.

Our structured approach, experienced teachers and focus on small group interaction, ensures that your investment translates into tangible progress for your child.

What Qualifications Do You Have?

Phil is highly experienced and knowledgeable.

He achieved his BA Hons in Mathematics Education at Edge Hill University and a Master's Degree in Mathematics Education at Chester University.

As part of his role as a secondary school maths teacher, Phil has a clear Enhanced DBS and regularly updates safeguarding training.

Is Zoom easy to use?

Yes, it is very easy. Once you have booked you will be sent a Zoom link with all the details of the lesson. You then use the same link each week at the same time.
